The Hisarönü Gulf and Knidos
You'll leave Bozburun for Orhaniye, where the Kızkumu sandbar runs out into the bay just under the surface. Bencik, further round, is a long inlet that almost cuts the land in two, near where Herodotus says the people of Knidos tried to dig a canal to keep out the Persians. West along the peninsula you'll anchor in the southern harbour at Knidos, below the terraces of the ancient city.
Round the tip to Serçe
You'll round the tip of the peninsula to Bozukkale, where a path from the anchorage leads up to the Rhodian fortress walls of ancient Loryma. Serçe Limanı, just beyond, is the sheltered harbour where an eleventh-century ship sank with a cargo of glass, now in the Bodrum museum. Coming back, you'll moor stern-to the rocks at Dirsek, a popular cove on the gulf side.
